Motor Vehicle Accident?
Come to physical therapy early for best results.
(If it’s been too long, physical therapy can still help, but the method will be different – stay tuned here for next update on that topic.)
Portland Drivers Face a High Accident Rate
According to a Lending Tree study, “Portland, Ore., has the highest rate of accident-prone drivers across the 50 largest U.S. cities.”
Any one of us could get in a motor vehicle accident at any time.
Luckily, not all crashes result in an injury, but when they do, Nick Rinard Physical Therapy is here to help.
Why Starting PT Early Matters
Unless there are fractures or other serious traumas, PT is safe and best if started within the first few weeks. By 6 weeks, most scar tissue has formed. PT is key to helping that scar tissue form optimally during healing — not too tight and not too loose. Healing always occurs, but if you are not moving or positioned correctly, you might heal “wrong”.
It’s Not Too Late for PT
If you missed the 6 week optimal healing window and still have pain and/or stiffness, PT can still be of benefit, but it will involve remodeling already healed tissue that did not heal right the first time.
