Considering back surgery?

When you’re in pain, it may seem that anything that is going to make you feel better seems worth it.

But will back surgery alleviate your pain?

And is it really the quickest route to recovery?

Many times, the answer to both these questions is no. It wasn’t hard to find just 2 patients recently who received back surgery and were still in a great deal of pain-you can read their results bellow.

“After discussing my lower back pain with my nurse practitioner she prescribed my visit to Nick Rinard PT and was adamant I tried their program. Considering I live 70 miles away from their clinic, that was a big ask. The very first visit I learned a great deal about why I was in pain and had a plan in place. By the second visit I already started to notice results.”

“My experience with Nick Rinard and his whole team has been completely positive. Nick’s approach to physical therapy is consistently effective, easy to follow, and I have seen lasing results. The overall reduction in pain, increase in strength and improvement in my sense of personal control over my ability to manage what was once severe and extreme pain is nothing short of a miracle.”

Some people do need to undergo back surgery, but why not try Nick Rinard Cert MDT physical therapy first? Within 4 visits, our trained therapists can have you on the road to recovery, or recommend a next step for you if physical therapy is not your best solution.

Considering back surgery?

ONLY when all other avenues have been exhausted!

Drivers of pain and disability: how relevant could the family environment be, to how some people ‘respond to treatment’?
“Positive family environments predicted.. greater exercise induced hypoalgesia (EIH), whereas negative and chronic pain-present family environments predicted worse pain and EIH outcomes.”

Do you know where to go to receive the most up to date treatments in physical therapy?

Nick Rinard Physical Therapy is up-to-date on methods that make a difference!

We are so pleased that our MDT method is receiving more and more medical validation!

However, with more validation in the rehab community, Nick Rinard Physical Therapy has since noticed a trend of clinics advertising use of the method but none of their physical therapists were actually certified in MDT.

Nick Rinard Physical Therapist is certified in the methodology for the last 21 years.

  1. The MDT history reveals the “nature of the pathology” better than taking a traditional history.  For example:  runners often attribute “running” as the cause of LBP.  MDT questioning, however, usually reveals that the LBP is better during the run, with pain commencing sometime after.  Further questioning reveals that it is typically the lumbar flexion involved in stretching the hamstrings afterwards that causes LBP!
  • The current understanding of tendonitis has caused a shift in medial thinking so much that a new term is now used for the chronic version:  “tendonosis” or “tendonopathy”.  These terms indicate that the condition is non-inflammatory – in other words, mechanical.  Only dosed, targeted mechanical loading causes tissue adaptation and functional recovery.  That is exactly how we have been treating chronic “tendonitis”!

Not all physical therapy is the same.

Some are more effective than others.

If you have had Physical Therapy, did it work?

If you are going to Physical Therapy now, is it helping? If yes, you should continue until you are better.

However, if you are not getting better, or if they need Physical Therapy in the future, then you should read on.

Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) has been shown in numerous scientific studies to be the most effective type of Physical Therapy available today. However, you and patients should know just what MDT is so you can be sure you are actually receiving it.

The MDT method does not rely on technological gadgets such as ultrasound or electrical stimulation commonly used in traditional Physical Therapy. There is little evidence to show that these machines actually help in recovery. Instead, Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy, as its name suggests, uses mechanical forces to centralize referred pain, and to correct the physical problem. Exercises designed specifically for each patient, affect pain immediately, and can be performed by the patient whenever pain arises.

Over a short time, these exercises heal the injury and allow full recovery. In our clinic, Nick Rinard Physical Therapy, the average number of visits is only six and a half!
